Rue McClanahan passed away in 2010, that’s five years ago to be exact, but the internet seems to be just picking up on it now.
On Thursday, news of her death spread like wildfire on Twitter, but it was way off. The strangest part of it all is that the same misreporting happened in 2014, on June 10. Will this be a yearly occurrence?
The actress, best known as Blanche Devereaux from The Golden Girls, died on June 3, 2010 at the age of 76.
Perhaps the worst part of the ordeal is that those posting “R.I.P.” sentiments to McClanahan were linking to her obituary from the year 2010, proving they didn’t even read what they were posting.
Of course, there were people who knew better who took to Twitter to make a joke out of the widely reported fake death.
ALERT: Rue McClanahan STILL dead, five years later.
