Authorities have said that at least 38 people were killed after a gunman opened fire on a Tunisian beach in the resort town of Sousse on Friday.
NBC News noted that the country’s Interior Ministry said that in addition to the deceased, another six people were injured when the lone gunman began shooting on the beach.
Some of those shot were tourists staying at the Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba on vacation. Many of the hotel’s guests ran off the beach and were told by the staff to go to their rooms and stay there until further notice.
As previously reported, the attack fell on the same day as an attack at a gas factory in Paris and another on a Shia mosque in Kuwait.
Tunisia is also where the deadly attack on a museum took place back in March. More than 20 people including the gunmen, were killed in an attack at the famed Bardo Museum in the capital city of Tunis.
