Taylor Swift is continuing to prove she’s as loyal to her fans as they are to her, writing a letter to a fan named Kaileen who lost her mother last January.
Swift replied to Kaileen, who told her that listening to her music has helped her get through this “sad place” she’s been in. She also told the pop star it was a particularly difficult day for her on Sunday because of Mother’s Day.
The “Style” singer responded on Tumblr by telling Kaileen, “I admire and respect your ability to put forth such a sunny, sweet disposition when you’ve been through something so dark and tragic so recently. I never would’ve guessed by your attitude or your posts. I never would’ve known if you hadn’t told me.”
She also let Kaileen know it’s “okay” to feel sorry for herself in the wake of something to tragic.
“I love you so much and can’t imagine what you must be feeling today,” she wrote. “You’ve lived through my worst fear. I’m so sorry you can’t spend today with her. It’s not fair, and there’s no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today.”
Swift revealed just last month that her own mother, Andrea, was diagnosed with cancer.
