It was revealed this week the oldest child of 19 Kids and Counting’s Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Josh Duggar, was named in an underage sexual abuse case stemming back to 2005.
It was actually Josh’s father, Jim Bob, who turned him into the Arkansas State Police after catching him leaving a young girl’s room when he learned of “inappropriate” touching. Josh was 17 at the time, so he was a minor as well.
The statute of limitations is now up on the case and Josh, now a married father expecting his fourth child with wife Anna Duggar, won’t be prosecuted in the case.
According to InTouch, the state trooper who took the case failed to follow up and had actually been convicted of child pornography charges himself, in a bizarre turn of events.
“I can’t comment or discuss [this case] because of the sensitive nature and because it involved a juvenile,” said Sgt. Darrel Hignite, who reportedly led this investigation.
Sources tell InTouch they saw the police report, which clearly stated “inappropriate touching with a minor.”
“A technicality prevented any further action,” said a source. “That’s been the biggest regret in all of this.”
