George R.R. Martin definitely won't write for 'Game of Thrones' season six

George R.R. Martin is definitely not going to write an episode for Game of Thrones’ six season. He really wants to get his first book since 2011’s A Dance With Dragons published next year. While he already said in March that he won’t write a season six episode, he told Entertainment Weekly recently that he must get the new book, The Winds Of Winter, done by the time season six starts next year. “Maybe I’m being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish,” Martin told EW. “But I canceled two convention appearances, I’m turning down a lot more interviews — anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done.” One of those convention appearances was supposed to be at the San Diego Comic-Con in July. Martin wrote at an episode for every season up until the current fifth season. The show is already set to pass the A Song Of Ice And Fire books, which is why he really wants to get The Winds of Winter done. The new book still doesn’t have a publication date, but Martin will announce when he is finished on his website. Game of Thrones airs on Sundays on HBO.
