Katie Couric got new Late Late Show host James Corden good when she pretended to fall down the stairs on his show for an April Fools’ Day prank.
In fact, it wasn’t her that pretended to tumble down the steep staircase, it was a stunt double. Corden’s face was the look of complete terror as he ran from behind his desk to Couric’s side, asking her if there was anyone around to help her.
Couric then suddenly appeared at the top of the stairs and yelled “Up here, James. April Fools!”
Corden’s relief was palpable as he sunk to the floor, trying to process what had just happened. When they got back to the set he joked, "I was like, 'Oh my God. Katie Couric just died.’”
Fellow guest, Entourage star Jeremy Piven, even told Corden, “Your reaction is priceless.”
Apparently late night hosts were a target this year, as Rihanna played a hilarious prank on Jimmy Kimmel as well.
