Joni Mitchell rushed to intensive care but she's 'awake and in good spirits'

Joni Mitchell has been hospitalized and is currently in intensive care at a Los Angeles-area hospital. She was rushed there on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s unknown what happened to Mitchell, 71, in the events leading up to the 911 call around 2pm, but the caller said she was unconscious.

TMZ reports when paramedics arrived to her home, she was conscious. On Tuesday night, two message popped up on her Twitter page confirming she’s “awake and in good spirits."

The 8-time Grammy winner suffers from Morgellons disease.

She told the LA Times back in 2010, “I'm a polio survivor, so I know how conservative the medical body can be.”

She added, "In America, the Morgellons is always diagnosed as 'delusion of parasites,' and they send you to a psychiatrist. I'm actually trying to get out of the music business to battle for Morgellons sufferers to receive the credibility that's owed to them."

Mitchell is best known for her Woodstock-era music in the ‘60s, for songs such as "Big Yellow Taxi” and “Both Sides Now.”
