A United Airlines flight out of Washington D.C. had to return to the airport on Monday evening after a passenger allegedly threatened that he had a bomb and tried to rush the cockpit.
WUSA-TV and KUSA-TV reported that Flight 1074, which was bound for Denver out of Dulles International Airport, had 33 passengers and six crew members on board when one passenger became violent.
United Airlines spokesman Luke Punzenberger confirmed to NBC News that the Boeing 737 did return to the airport "after a passenger failed to comply with crew instructions" and was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Officials would not offer too many details about the incident, but a video of the man being held down was posted online. Witnesses said he was tackled and subdued by others on the flight after he allegedly rushed the cockpit and claimed to have a bomb.
In the video, that man can be heard apologizing while he is being held down.
No other passengers or any crew members were injured during the incident and they were later put on another plane to get to their destination.
