Lupita Nyong’o’s $150,000 Calvin Klein Oscars dress that was stolen from her hotel room in West Hollywood last week has reportedly been found.
As we previously reported, the custom gown was taken from her room at The London, where she was staying while in town for the Oscars.
According to TMZ, the story took a turn for the worse over the weekend.
The thief tipped off the website and told them he knew how to evade the security cameras so that he wouldn’t be seen. However, when he took the dress by simply walking through an open door while Nyong’o was still inside, he found out the pearls were fake when he brought two of them down to the Garment District.
He then returned to the hotel and threw the dress over the balcony.
The Telegraph reports LA police Lieutenant Michael White said during a press conference, "If we found out that they were not real, we still have a burglary and we still have a grand theft."
