Authorities said that at least one person is dead after an incident occurred at the gate of the National Security Agency headquarters at Fort Meade.
WUSA9 noted that video from an overhead helicopter showed a damaged police car and another vehicle just outside the gates of the Maryland military base. The station also said that the video captured at least one uniformed person being wheeled away from the scene on a stretcher.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. and FoxNews.com reported that two men allegedly tried to ram the security gate, which then resulted in gunfire with the guard. However, that report has not yet been confirmed and it is unclear if the guard shot one or both of the men.
Anne Arundel County police have said that the NSA is conducting the investigation at this time and more details will be made available shortly.
Fort George G. Meade is home to around 6,000 families and employs somewhere in the neighborhood of 40,000 people.
