An image of a significantly thin model wearing underwear on Urban Outfitters’ UK website has been ordered to be taken down after an anonymous complaint was filed.

The U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) banned the photo, which featured an underwear model with a large thigh gap.
In a statement, the ASA said “We considered that the model was very thin, and noted, in particular, that there was a significant gap between the model’s thighs, and that her thighs and knees were a similar width.”
E! Online reports they continued that considering their target demographic is impressionable young people, the ad is therefore “irresponsible.”
Their statement continued using a thin model “was likely to impress upon that audience that the image was representative of the people who might wear Urban Outfitters’ clothing, and as being something to aspire to.”
In response, Urban Outfitters defended their ad and denied the model is too thin. They stated her 23.5 inch waistline is not “underweight.”
