While Showtime didn’t reveal much about its revival of Twin Peaks during its Television Critics Association press tour panel on Monday, Showtime president David Nevins did drop two big bits of news.
Ever since Showtime and CBS confirmed that they would be reviving the series in October, fans have been left wondering how many members of the original cast could return. On Monday, it was confirmed that at least Kyle MacLachlan will return.
MacLachlan showed up at the panel in full Agent Cooper attire to offer Nevins a “damn fine cup of coffee.”
According to Indiewire, MacLachlan then didn’t say anything for a time, before he did add, “May the forest be with you.”
“You have to get out of here, before you get us in trouble with David and Mark,” Nevis said.
The David and Mark Nevins was referring to are David Lynch and Mark Frost, the original series’ co-creators. They are both returning and Nevins confirmed that Lynch will direct every episode of the new series.
Nevis added that the network is completely leaving Frost and Lynch alone. “More or less writing checks and leaving them alone,” he said when asked how he is managing them.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the series won’t be back until 2016, 25 years after the original series ended.
Nevins said that more members of the original cast will be joining as filming gets closer.
