Nick Offerman, who plays the manliest man on television, Parks and Recreation’s Ron Swanson, looks perfect to star in FX’s Fargo. So it wasn’t too surprising that he nabbed a role in the anthology series’ second season.
On Thursday, FX filled out most of the remaining roles on Fargo’s second season, which is set in 1979 and will star Patrick Wilson as a young Lou Salverson investigating criminal activity in Minnesota. Offerman will play a small town lawyer and Vietnam War veteran named Karl Weathers. He’s also a drunk who can talk... a lot.
This will be Offerman’s first role after finishing filming on Parks And Recreation, which starts its final season on NBC on Jan. 13.
“I don’t get to shoot anybody in the face but I love the writing on that show,” the comedian told Entertainment Weekly when asked why he joined the show. “It’s a terrific show for actors and when I saw the first season I said, ‘Boy, if they would ever have me, I’d love to recite some of that Minnesota dialogue,’ and sure enough that’s what I’ll be doing.”
Offerman didn’t say much about his character, but added that he “likes to have a good time.”
Fargo’s second season will also star Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons. The group of guest stars includes Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Angus Sampson and Jeffrey Donovan.
