Despite the dark cloud hanging over his head in regards to sexual misconduct allegations, Bill Cosby hit the stage for the first time since November on Wednesday night.
Cosby has three performances scheduled in Canada until Friday. On Wednesday he performed at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener, Ontario, Thursday he will be at the Ontario’s Budweiser Gardens in London and on Friday he will perform at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton.
NBC News reports some people who purchased tickets say they have no intention of going and some even claimed they were going just to heckle him.
Cosby has had over 10 performances cancelled in the wake of the mounting sexual assault allegations. Those who purchased tickets to these canceled shows will get refunds.
His comeback has been thwarted by over 15 women’s claims he sexual molested or raped them, oftentimes drugging them beforehand.
Cosby’s Cosby Show co-star Phylicia Rashad seems to think the allegations were “orchestrated” by someone trying to ruin his “legacy.”
She explained, “Forget these women. What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”
However, ABC News reports she's now saying she was misquoted.
"I am a woman. I would never say such a thing. I would never think such a thing," she said. "My message is, what happens to a nation in which people knowingly and willfully disavow the tenets that describe the nation? ... This is not about the women. This is about something else. This is about the obliteration of a legacy."
