It never seems like your iPhone or iPad has enough space and that’s probably because of the size of the iOS 8 operating system. So, two Miami residents want to do something about that and are suing Apple for false advertising.
Paul Orshan and Christopher Endara filed a legal complaint against Apple in California, accusing the tech giant of “storage capacity misrepresentations and omissions,” reports CBS News. They said that the iOS operating system can make as much as 23 percent of advertized space unavailable to the user.
For example, they claim that iOS 8 takes up 3.7 GB on an iPod that’s advertised as having 16GB. They say a 16GB iPad really only has 12.6 GB available to use and a 16GB iPhone 6 Plus has 12.7 GB available.
“In reality, nothing close to the advertised capacity of the Devices is available to end users. Indeed, the discrepancy between advertised and available capacity is substantial and beyond any possible reasonable expectation,” their attorney, JOnas Mann, wrote, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The lawsuit also claims that once a user’s device storage is almost full, Apple will automatically send an advertisement for the iCloud service.
Apple has not commented on the complaint.
