A blizzard is expected to wallop the Northeast in the coming days and several airlines have cancelled thousands of flights in preparation for what could turn out to be an historic storm.
The Associated Press noted that according to FlightAware.com, more than 2,000 flights were cancelled Monday morning ahead of the impending snowstorm.
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for many areas along the East coast and snow is expected to fall from Pennsylvania right on up through Maine.
Reuters reported that on Sunday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio warned Big Apple residents that the storm could be “something worse than we have seen before." And, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked that people work from home if possible as many buses and subway systems will be shut down by Monday evening.
Meanwhile in Boston, the New England Patriots will be headed out West for Sunday’s Super Bowl and are expected to leave town before the snow makes its way there. The team has a 12:30 flight Monday afternoon to Phoenix.
