The Happiest Place on Earth hasn’t exactly lived up to its name recently as Disney’s California theme parks have been dealing with a measles outbreak.
Reuters reported that several more cases were confirmed Monday, bringing the total number of those infected to 26.
Health officials said that outbreak at Disney’s California Adventure and Disneyland in Anaheim, occurred between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20. Many guests likely contracted the viral disease while at the park.
Measles are highly contagious and can remain viable on surfaces for hours.
The Associated Press noted that the majority of the cases have been in California with two in Utah and one in both Colorado and Washington. Of the new cases reported, all are in Southern California.
The theme parks, which draw thousands of visitors from all over the world, have been working with the California Department of Public Health on the matter.
The MMR vaccine protects against the disease, however, children under a year old are too young to be vaccinated and are at risk.
