The Writers Guild of America announced the television nominees for the 2014 awards. While True Detective’s multiple nominations aren’t surprising, the guild showed love for Amazon Instant Video’s Transparent, which was the most-nominated show.
Two HBO shows will battle for the overall Drama Series award, Game of Thrones and True Detective. However, they face AMC’s Mad Men and Netflix’s House of Cards. The only broadcast network show nominated in the category was CBS’ The Good Wife.
The broadcast networks were completely shut out in the Comedy Series category. Transparent will go up against HBO’s Silicon Valley and Veep. The other nominees are Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and FX’s Louie.
New Series nominees include Showtime’s The Affair; Cinemax’s The Knick; HBO’s Silicon Valley and True Detective; and Trasparent.
The two nominees for original long form series are both on Lifetime. Melissa carter’s Deliverance Creek and Sean Hanish’s Return to Zero are the only nominees in that category.
There are a few more Long Form Adapted nominees. From HBO, there’s Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, Jane Anderson’s Olive Kitteridge and Damon Lindelof & Tom Perrotta’s The Leftovers pilot. Discovery’s Klondike, written by Paul T. Scheuring, Josh Goldin & Rachel Abramowitz, and Nicholas Meyer’s History series Houdini are also nominated.
