Last night’s episode of The Colbert Report was Stephen Colbert’s next-to-last show, or as he called it, his “last show that isn’t my last show.”
The episode featured a hilarious segment, where Colbert sold off his memorabilia in a yard sale, rather than through some auction for charity. Yes, even Michael Stipe was up for sale, although no one wanted the former REM frontman, even for 25 cents.
Colbert got quite a few customers, including one man who didn’t bring any cast. So, Colbert got his credit card number, his social security number, his mother’s maiden name and even an outline to the man’s apartment... you know, just in case. One mother bought a speech Colbert wrote, but her baby wasn’t impressed. Another man picked up a Beatles figure, but picked Ringo. Why Ringo? Not even Paul?
Colbert also announced that he teamed up with Google Maps to give viewers a look at the studio if they never got a chance to see the show in person. It gives a full 360-degree view and you can even see how the audience looks from Colbert’s perspective.
The guest last night was Iraq War vet and Redeployment author Phil Klay. On Tuesday’s show, Kendrick Lamar performed.
