Kelly Rowland has lost her mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, 66, on Tuesday after she suffered from cardiac arrest.
Rowland released a statement through on Wednesday, asking for privacy as she mourns the loss of her mom.
"It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison,” she said, E! News reports. “She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today. We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time."
The Destiny’s Child singer gave birth to her first child, a son with husband Tim Witherspoon, in November. Shortly after, Beyonce gushed about her new “nephew” on Instagram.
“I thank god for the honor of witnessing my sisters journey into motherhood,” she wrote.
Rowland married Witherspoon, her manager, in May and they announced their pregnancy a month later.
