Jimmy Fallon, The Roots and One Direction jam to 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' using classroom instruments (Video)

Jimmy Fallon enlisted his Tonight Show houseband The Roots and One Direction to perform the classic Christmas song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” with a twist.

Each member of the boy band; Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, used a popular classroom instrument to provide the beat of the song.

Us Weekly reports Malik played the triangle, Payne used coconuts, Tomlinson played a tambourine, Styles used a drum and Horan shook a banana.

They all wore holiday-themed sweaters for the performance, which saw them each getting a solo part, including Fallon, who kicked off the song with his verse.

Daily News notes the Classroom Instruments segment has become somewhat of a tradition for Fallon, with Mariah Carey joining him in 2012 for her hit "All I Want for Christmas is You” and Robin Thicke joining last year for “Blurred Lines.”
