Discovery's 'Eaten Alive' falls short, Twitter reacts to Paul Rosolie bailing out of getting eaten by anaconda

Viewers of Discovery’s Eaten Alive special, which aired Sunday night, have voiced their disappointment in the ending on Twitter.

Although it was marketed as a stunt in which naturalist Paul Rosolie would actually get swallowed by an anaconda, it didn’t quite work out that way.

All suited up in a special suit to protect him from the snake’s constriction, Rosolie didn’t get to the point that was promised – all the way to the snake’s stomach.

Instead, he told his team on stand-by, “I'm calling it, I need help!”

Us Weekly reports Rosolie tapped out when he felt his arm breaking and the blood rushing out of him.

“I started to feel the blood drain out of my hand and I felt the bone flex and when I got to the point where I felt like it was going to snap I had to tap out,” he said.

Rosolie faces critics for not completing the stunt, but he did achieve what he set out to do, which is raise money for South America’s rainforests.

"I wanted to do something to grab people’s attention to the plight of the disappearing rainforests, something completely crazy," he said. "Everything else has been tried."
