Amazon Prime users in Manhattan who don’t want to leave their building to pick up some essentials but still need them in an hour can now get Prime Now. It’s a new service that guarantees delivery of items in at least an hour.

The service, announced today, allows Prime users access to items on a Prime Now app on their phones. Thanks to the growing network of fulfillment centers that partner with Amazon, the company can deliver toiletries, books, toys and batteries in 60 minutes or less.
Prime Now was launched in parts of Manhattan today and the service is available from 6 a.m. to midnight, every day of the week. Two-hour delivery is free with the $99 annual Amazon Prime subscription, while guaranteed one-hour delivery is an extra $7.99.
Amazon said that the service will be expanding in more cities next year. There’s no word on if Amazon’s future drone service will be enlisted to help.
Other Amazon Prime benefits include free two-day shipping, access to Amazon Prime Instant Video, storage on the company’s Cloud Drive and access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
