Who on earth is #AlexFromTarget?

If you’ve been on Twitter at all today you might have noticed the hashtag “#AlexFromTarget” trending all morning and into the afternoon.

The story behind the hashtag is one of those unexplainable viral internet anomalies. It’s pretty simple – someone posted a photo of a young, good looking employee from Target named Alex and the rest is history.

CNN reports that a Twitter user with the handle @brooklynjreiff posted a photo of Alex and it took the internet by storm on Monday.

Target even got in on the fun, taking advantage of the viral hashtag. “We heart Alex, too! #alexfromtarget,” the retail giant tweeted.

Alex’s sudden fame prompted him to muse at how many new followers on Twitter and asking some very poignant questions like, “Am i famous now?”

If you measure fame by making the Urban Dictionary, then perhaps he is famous. He’s defined as a “hardcore pimp who recently gained fame as an Instagram sensation for reasons beyond the comprehension of any sane person.”
