'The Walking Dead': Alexandra Breckenridge of 'American Horror Story' joins cast

The cast of The Walking Dead is already big, but it’s about to get even bigger. Former american Horror Story actress Alexandra Breckenridge has scored a potential major role.

It’s not clear exactly who she will play, but sources for The Hollywood Reporter say that Breckenridge will start out as a recurring player in the current season five. She could then pick up an option to be promoted to a series regular in season six.

THR notes that she could be playing a character named Samantha, who is strong and intelligent, but still vulnerable. She is a mother and was a talented artist.

AMC did not comment on the casting.

The Walking Dead is based on the books written by Robert Kirkman and is headlined by Andrew Lincoln. Other new actors joining the show recently ar Tyler James Williams and Lennie James. Seth Gilliam will make his first appearance on Sunday night. The show has a whopping 17 series regulars.

The show’s fifth season premiere was its biggest ever, drawing 17.3 million viewers. It has already been renewed for a sixth season.
