Robertson family confirms 'Duck Dynasty' the musical is in negotiations

A&E’s stars of Duck Dynasty, the Robertson family, have become a pop culture phenomenon. Their popularity is now moving them from the small screen to the stage, as a musical is being created based on them.

The family won’t actually be in the musical themselves, but they did confirm in a statement that The Duck Commander Family Musical is in the works.

The musical would be featured at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas sometime early next year.

"The semi-biographical musical about the Robertson family has music and lyrics by Robert Morris, Steven Morris, and Joe Shane (known for the musical White Noise produced in Chicago by Whoopi Goldberg) and a book by Asa Somers,” she statement to Us Weekly reads. “Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Grey Gardens, Grease) is the director and choreographer. The complete cast and production team will be announced at a later date."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the musical would be based on Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson and his wife Corie Robertson’s book The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty.

Duck Dynasty’s seventh season premieres on Nov. 17 on A&E.
