Rapper Big Paybacc shot and killed at McDonald's in daylight

A man who was shot and killed on Thursday inside a Palmdale, California McDonald’s has been identified as rapper Big Paybacc. He was shot in broad daylight, around 12:30 p.m.

Big Paybacc, whose real name is Habeeb Ameer Zekajj, was having lunch when he was shot only once. Officials told CBS Los Angeles that they do not believe it was a random shooting, as the suspect just walked into the restaurant, shot Zekajj without speaking and fled out another door.

“He had something against this individual,” LA County Sheriff’s Department Lt. John Corina. told CBS LA. “It wasn’t like he shot up the McDonald’s. He just shot him and left.”

The station spoke with Zekajj’s girlfriend, Jessica Jefferson, who said that the rapper had three children. She said that she left to go to the McDonald’s from her house.

“For them to be that bold to run up to someone in a McDonald’s in daylight, in front of people, kids you know, and to just take some kind of vengeance on somebody, it’s, it’s inhumane,” Jefferson said.

The Los Angeles Times reports that a description of the suspect was not released, but officials are examining surveillance footage. A possible motive was also not released.

This was the ninth homicide in Palmdale in the past year, with four of the nine victims dying of gunshot wounds.
