Prince has deleted his social media accounts, Twitter and Facebook, only one year after joining. It comes as no surprise to anyone who followed him judging by his less-than-enthusiastic approach to connecting with fans.
He actually launched a Twitter Q&A session for his fans – his handle paid homage to his all-female backing band, 3rdEyeGirl - only to respond one time.
Billboard reports his tenure on Twitter was just bizarre.
Who could forget his first few tweets? The first was “PRINCE'S 1ST TWEET... TESTING 1, 2...” and his second was “PRINCE’S SECOND TWEET.”
His third was a photo of his salad smothered in pepper. “PRINCE'S 3RD TWEET: DID EYE ADD 2 MUCH PEPPER?” he asked.
His last two albums, Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum, went No. 1 on the Billboard charts, so perhaps the social media accounts served its purpose and they’re no longer needed. He’s clearly not social media-savvy enough to keep it around for personal reasons.
