Mama June is speaking out publicly in her first sit-down since her family’s TLC show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was canceled in wake of rumors she reconciled with her sex offender ex, Mark McDaniels.
During the interview she denies dating McDaniels, but does admit to having two of her children with another sex offender.
In the interview with Entertainment Tonight, June said she’s only seen McDaniels twice since he got out of jail for molesting her oldest daughter, Anna, 20, when she was 8. She said once was a “coincidence” and the other time was for closure for her daughter, Lauryn.
"Since two months to almost six years, she knew nobody but him," she said of Lauryn, known as Pumpkin. "She was starting to resent Anna and she was starting to ask me questions. I can't answer those questions for Pumpkin."
She continued when they met with McDaniels for this conversation, there were “twelve other people” there. "It was a conversation that she wanted her answers: what happened, why did he leave, you know, if he was her real father,” she said. “He admitted to her, no. I had already told her that but, you know, she wanted to hear from both sides of the story."
Her real father is the same person who fathered Anna, Micahel Anthony Ford – also a sex offender - which June said she kept a secret until now.
"Jessica and Pumpkin have the same dad, but Jessica's dad has had nothing to do with her over the years. So, why the hell would I open up that can of worms until today? I lied to my family and told them it was somebody else,” she said.
When asked if she understands why fans would be angry with her for exposing Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson to McDaniels, she said “it's not like I'm seeing him everyday, I promise.”
The whole interview will air on Thursday, which includes Sugar Bear’s side.
