James Wolk is one of those good television actors who always seems to get in short-lived shows. However, next summer, he will get a leading role in a high-profile project on CBS. The former Mad Men actor will star in James Patterson’s Zoo.
Wolk will star as Jackson Oz, an American zoologist who spends most of his time in Africa, notes Deadline. Jackson suddenly discovers that animals are acting differently and they begin attacking. As animals become more dangerous, Jackson tries his best to solve the issue before it gets worse.
Zoo will air in summer 2015 and got a straight to series order in July. The project is based on the best-selling 2012 novel by prolific writer James Patterson. The Wolverine director James Mangold is among the executive producers.
It will join CBS’ growing stable of scripted summer programming. The network has already renewed Under The Dome and Extant for 2015.
Wolk also starred in USA’s Political Animals and Fox’s Lone Star, two short-lived projects. He also appeared alongside Robin Williams in CBS’ The Crazy Ones, which also lasted just one season. He had a recurring part on Mad Men.
