Fox finishing scheduling its midseason shows last night and Glee fans will be happy to know that they have a date on their calendar to circle. The musical dramedy will finally be back in January.
Glee, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy and stars Lea Michele, will finish its run on a Friday, rather than a Tuesday. Considering the show’s ratings free-fall in more recent seasons, that move isn’t so surprising. The season will only feature 13 episodes and will kick off with a two-hour premiere on Jan. 9.
Its regular time slot will be Fridays at 9 p.m. The series finale will air on Friday, March 20 at 8 p.m. and will also be two hours. There will be no breaks for the show, so new episodes will air for 11 consecutive weeks.
Another show premiering in January is Masterchef Junior, which will start its third season on Tuesday, Jan. 6. On that same night, new episodes of New Girl and The Mindy Project will air.
The last show debuting in January is Backstrom, a crime drama starring former Office actor Rainn Wilson. It begins its run on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9 p.m.
The Last Man On Earth, a sitcom starring Will Forte will begin with two episodes on Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m. Its regular slot will be Sundays at 9:30 p.m. Since the show will air on Sundays, it looks like Mulaney will be officially cancelled soon enough.
Weird Loners is another new sitcom, which will debut on Tuesday, March 31 at 9:30 p.m.
Fox also said that The Following will return on Monday, March 2 at 8 p.m. with two episodes. Its regular slot will be 9 p.m, following Gotham.
Hell’s Kitchen returns on Tuesday, March 3 at 9. p.m.
Fox announced earlier this week that Empire will debut on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 9 p.m., just after American Idol.
