The horizon is getting more cloudy for John Mulaney and his self-titled freshman series on Fox. The network said on Tuesday that the show is moving to a new slot on Sunday nights.
Mulaney will be taking this Sunday off, but when it comes back, it will have a new home. According to Entertainment Weekly, the sitcom, which also stars Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad, will move to 7:30 p.m. That will move Bob’s Burgers to Mulaney’s original 9:30 p.m. slot.
The series has not been meeting Fox’s lofty expectations since it premiered. Despite having Family Guy as a lead-in, the show’s ratings have continued to fall. Last month, Fox cut the initial 16-episode order to just 13 episodes.
Mulaney’s latest episode, which we reviewed here, only had 2 million viewers and a 0.9 18-49 rating.
The show isn’t officially cancelled, but it’s starting to look like it. However, Fox won’t find out if the time shift works until Nov. 23, when it returns.
