Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old girl accused of operating a prostitution ring made up of fellow high school students.
According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Alexa Nicole De Armas was arrested Friday on felony charges of human trafficking a person under the age of 18. A 21-year-old man, John Michael Mosher, was also arrested for allegedly paying to have intercourse with a 15-year-old girl.
FOX 13 noted that the police said the alleged ring was uncovered after four female students at one school approached administrators and told them about it.
"[The suspect] told me about her 'friends' who had been a part of her business, and how the girl got paid $40 and a bottle of liquor to have sex with someone," one of the students said.
Investigators soon uncovered messages exchanged on social media between De Armas and a 15-year-old allegedly discussing the pricing for services and other details about the operation.
“Why pimp out old hoes when I have fresh young hoes I can give up for money?” De Armas reportedly wrote in one Facebook message.
Authorities believe that at least three deals for sex were coordinated by De Armas, including one with Mosher, who has been charged with sexual battery of a minor.
Police said more arrests are expected in the coming days.
