While Bill Cosby wants to remain quiet, the women who accuse the legendary comedian of rape continue to tell their stories. Just days after Barbara Bowman’s op-ed, former music industry publicist and actress Joan Tarshis came forward over the weekend.

In a post on the Hollywood Elsewhere blog, Tarshis gave her story to writer Jeffrey Wells. Tarshis says that she met Cosby in 1969, when she was 19. She claims that one night, he asked her to help him out on some material for The Bill Cosby Show. While she gave him ideas that he liked, Cosby served her a drink.

“The next thing I remember was coming to on his couch while being undressed,” Tarshis recalled. “Through the haze I thought I was being clever when I told him I had an infection and he would catch it and his wife would know he had sex with someone. But he just found another orifice to use. I was sickened by what was happening to me and shocked that this man I had idolized was now raping me. Of course I told no one.”

She had hoped to never see him again, but had to when Cosby called her mother to tell her that her daughter was going to a theater with him. Tarshis felt obligated to go and was picked up by a limo. First, he was dropped off at Cosby’s hotel, where she saw he had “bottles of pills” in a shaving kit. Again, he made her a drink, which she drank.

When they got to the theater, she was forced to stay in the back with his chauffeur.

“But soon after, I remember feeling very, very stoned and asking his chauffeur to take me back to the car. I was having trouble standing up,” Tarshis told Welles. “The next thing I remember was waking up in his bed back at the Sherry, naked. I remember thinking ‘You old s**t, I guess you got me this time, but it’s the last time you’ll ever see me.’”

Tarshis said that it took her 20 years to get the courage to tell anyone. Now, she’s telling everyone. She later spoke with TheWrap, where she said that she refused to tell her story to the National Enquirer, but told Welles because they are friends.

Cosby has lost talk show spots since the allegations returned to the headlines, but his attorney has called them “decade-old, discredited” rumors.
