Amanda Bynes has apologized for the leaked audio recording that features her detailing how she would like to harm her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes.
The recording, which was leaked on Saturday and featured a conversation she had during a car ride with her former roommate, was posted to TMZ.
She has since taken to Twitter to say she made the comments in “jest” but she also released an apology through her lawyer to Access Hollywood.
"I'm sorry I trusted people who clearly were not my friends and capitalized on my illness. I am doing my best to get better. I am truly sorry for the statements I made. I am sorry for any pain I caused my family and others," she wrote. "I am thankful for everyone's patience and understanding. I never expected others to take advantage and profit from my condition. I'm disappointed with those who lulled me into a false sense of security only to find out they really are only interested in selling my privacy to the media.”
Bynes also addressed the statements she made in the audio recording, which included saying she wanted to slit her father’s throat and throw him into a ditch, on Twitter.
“By the way - i was obviously joking about hurting my family - i straight up don't believe in harming a soul,” she wrote.
