A Louisiana man has claimed that his biological father was the infamous Zodiac Killer, his publisher said on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Intelligencer, the man dubbed by authorities as the Zodiac Killer, is Earl Van Best Jr., a new book by Gary L. Stewart alleges. Stewart says that Best is his biological father.
Stewart, a businessman, who co-wrote the book titled The Most Dangerous Animal of All, along with journalist Susan Mustafa, chronicled his decade-long search for his birth father.
Unfortunately, he claims that it led him to the killer who terrorized northern California in the 1960s.
CNN reported that publisher HarperCollins said that Stewart concluded that the notorious killer, who is now dead, was his father and his claims are “legally sound.”
In the book, the co-author noted that a handwriting expert tied Best’s signature on his marriage certificate to letters the killer sent to the media. Also, Stewart says, his father’s fingerprints match those found at the crime scene, both have a diagonal scar.
The serial killer who has never been caught or identified by police is thought to have killed at least five people. In letters he wrote taunting authorities, he said that he actually murdered more than 37 people.
