The prosecutor in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial continued to question the Olympian on Monday and accused him of lying about the events that led up to shooting Reeva Steenkamp.
The Associated Press reported that chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel said Pistorius tailored his version of shooting his girlfriend to fit the evidence at the scene.
"You're tailoring your version as you're sitting there," Nel said to the athlete.
The state lawyer weaved through Pistorius’ version of events and scrutinized every detail from the time he said he and Steenkamp went to bed to the time he claimed he heard some in the house.
CNN noted that during the testimony the Paralympic track star again began to break down and caused a second brief adjournment in the proceedings so he could gather himself.
The sprint runner is accused of intentionally killing his girlfriend in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day 2013 after the two had an argument. However, Pistorius contends that they did not have a fight and that he fatally shot the model after mistaking her for an intruder.
He has plead not guilty to murder and weapons charges.
