Conan O'Brien to host shows at San Diego Comic Con in 2015

If there’s any more evidence needed to show that the San Diego Comic Con is much more than just a comic book convention, this will do. The 2015 event will be hosting the first ever late night show to broadcast from there, as Conan O’Brien plans to do a series of shows at the convention.

Conan, which airs on TBS, will be taped at the Spreckels Theatre in San Diego from July 8 to July 12, 2015, the week of Comic Con.

O’Brien has hosted shows far from Los Angeles before, including a recent trip to Dallas during the week leading up to the NCAA Final Four, notes The Hollywood Reporter. He was also recently tapped to host the MTV Movie Awards, which are on Sunday. Previous trips for the show have included Chicago and New York.

Comic Con has been more of a pop culture event in recent years, becoming a new place for the Hollywood studios to show off their tentpole projects directly to the audiences it knows will see them. The networks also bring their stars along for Q&A sessions.

O’Brien has shown an interest in Comic Con topics, hosting a Walking Dead episode and featuring a repeated video game sketch called “Clueless Gamer.”
