Even though his wife, Beyonce, recently collaborated with him, Jay Z has called out Drake on the new song “We Made It” with Jay Electronica. The diss was actually a response to Drake’s comments about him in February, which he gave to Rolling Stone.
"Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk. Silly me, rappin' 'bout shit that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns that they ain't shot / And a bunch of other silly shit that they ain't got,” Jay Z raps in the song, HipHopDX reports.
The lyrics are likely a response to Drake’s comments about Jay Z and art last month. He said, "It's like Hov can't drop bars these days without at least four art references. I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole Rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny."
In the same interview, Drake acknowledged he wasn’t on the best terms with either Jay Z or his Watch the Throne collaborator Kanye West when he rapped on “I’m On One,” "I'm just feelin' like the throne is for the taking. Watch me take it."
"It was a lack of communication paired with natural competitiveness," Drake admitted at the time. "But those two are gods to me."
However, the “Started From the Bottom” rapper vowed not to give any more interviews after the Rolling Stone piece was published because he said he was misquoted when he seemed to have dissed West.
"There were some real questionable bars on there," he was reported to have said. "Like that Swag-hili line? Come on man, man. Even Fabolous wouldn’t say some sh-t like that."
