A San Jose police officer has been charged with raping a woman after he responded to a domestic violence disturbance between her and her husband.
According to NBC Bay Area, Geoffrey Graves was charged with the sexual assault of a hotel maid with whom he was supposed to help after she fled a fight with her drunken husband.
Prosecutors say that after Graves responded to the call, he drove the woman to a hotel where she used to work to escape her husband. But inside the room, he attacked and assaulted her.
The New York Daily News reported that the 38-year-old turned himself in on Monday and was booked on forcible rape charges.
This is the second time in a week that a police officer has been charged with raping a woman they were called to protect.
Detroit cop Deon Nunlee was arrested and charged after he allegedly raped a woman while responding to a domestic violence call with her boyfriend.
