Shortly after the Cleveland Browns parted ways with their general manager and CEO, they started negotiations to keep one of their best players in Cleveland for several more years.
The Browns are currently in talks with their top cornerback, Joe Haden, in attempt of signing him to a long-term contract extension.
Haden is entering the last year of his rookie contract and set to get paid $6.7 million next season, according to NFL.com.
Haden is one of the best defenders in the league and it should be one of, new Browns GM, Ray Farmer's top priorities to lock him up for several more years. He had a very good season and was one of the few bright spots to come out of the Browns season in 2013.
Haden earned a Pro Bowl invitation and was named a second team All-Pro in 2013, according to cleveland.com.
The Browns have to be willing to pay the price in order to keep him in Cleveland for years to come. The average annual income for the top cornerbacks in the game aroud $11.3 million, cleveland.com reports.
There is no question that Haden deserves to be paid top-dollar for his skills as a lock-down corner.
