Many people are familiar with the infamous movie, Supersize Me, where a man ate nothing but McDonald’s for 90 days and showed clear signs of health decline throughout the month. The company suffered a bit from the production of the film as well as lawsuits from people that claimed McDonald’s made them fat.
However, a man has recently brought McDonald’s into the light again, but not because he gained weight from eating there.
John Cisna, a high school teacher from Iowa, says that he has lost 37 pounds after attempting the 90 day McDonald’s diet, according to USA Today. The teacher did this to exhibit to his students that it is how and what you eat, not where, that really makes the difference.
Cisna, on a typical day on the McDonald’s diet, would have two egg delight McMuffins, Fruit and Maple oatmeal, and one percent milk. He would have a salad for lunch and then a more typical McDonald’s meal for dinner. He restricted his nutrition, limiting himself to 2,000 calories a day.
Monitoring your calorie intake, as well as other nutrition facts, are easy to track at McDonald’s. Each item has the nutrition facts and calories are even posted directly on the menu inside and at the drive thru.
According to The Medical Daily News, Cisna says it was all about choice. “I can eat any food at McDonald’s I want,” Cisna said, “as long as I’m smart the rest of the day of what I balance it out with.”
