Fox will not be going ahead with long-gestating pilot for Wild Blue, which was about the lives of those working on an aircraft carrier.
Deadline reports that the show was initially ordered and casting had begun before Fox delayed the show for another season.
Fox bought the show from Sony Pictures TV, Justified's Taylor Elmore and Mark Johnson back ahead of the 2011-2012 season. Wild Blue was also previously titled The Bridge before being renamed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was being pitched as a mixture of Top Gun, The West Wing and ER.
Tim McGraw was in talks with Fox to be the star, but decided to pass on the project. Another reason for the delay, sources say, is that Fox wanted to film on an actual aircraft carrier, but the desired choice wasn't available during when filming was scheduled. The Navy was also supposedly set on helping the creative team with the script before plans fell through.
Those that were actually cast were Gina Rodriguez, Josh Salatin, Will Rotthaar, Alano Miller and Mykelti Williamson, with Michael Dinner on board to direct.
