TV Ratings: David Blaine gives ABC boost, but CBS sweeps night with ‘NCIS’

For the first time this season, CBS was Tuesday in both viewers and in the key ratings, thanks for strong performances from the NCIS franchise. ABC also got a nice lift from magician David Blaine’s special, but it wasn’t enough to get the network out of third place.

CBS swept the night, averaging 15.45 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating. NCIS kicked things off with its usual 19.3 million viewers and a 3.0 18-49 rating, notes HitFix. NCIS: LA had just under 15 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating. Person of Interest capped things off with 12 million viewers and a 2.0 key demo rating.

NBC came in second with 8.33 million viewers and a 2.3 18-49 rating. According to TheWrap, NBC’s eight-week Tuesday winning streak in the demo is over, mostly thanks to dips from The Voice and Chicago Fire. The Biggest Loser had 6.3 million viewers and a 1.8 18-49 rating, while Voice had 11.2 million and a 3.1 18-49 rating. It was the lowest-rated fall Tuesday episode for the series. Chicago Fire hit a season low with 7.4 million viewers and just a 1.9 rating.

ABC had a mixed night. While it did tie with NBC in the demo with a 2.3 overall rating, it averaged just 6.94 million viewers. Agents of SHIELD got a small Thor boost with 6.85 million viewers and a 2.3 18-4 9rating. The Goldbergs had 5.14 million and a 1.6 key demo rating before Blaine’s Real or Magic. The magician’s 90-minute special had 7.6 million viewers and a 2.5 18-49 rating.

Fox was in fourth with 3.1 million viewers and a 1.4 18-49 rating for its comedies. Brooklyn Nine-Nine again had more viewers than New Girl with 3.4 million and a 1.5 rating. New Girl did get a 1.7, though.

After a Lady Gaga special, The CW’s Supernatural had 2 million viewers and a 0.9 18-49 rating.
