Bill Murray is reportedly in talks to star in Jerry Maguire director Cameron Crowe’s next movie, which already stars Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone.
A source for TheWrap confirmed the news. The project is still untitled, but is being filmed in Hawaii. Cooper will play a defense contractor working with the government to launch a weapons satellite from Hawaii. But he has reservations and he teams up with a pilot (Stone) he’s fallen in love with to stop the launch. There’s also some mysterious forces helping them, adding a fantasy element to the film.
Stone has been attached since last year and Rachel McAdams joined in April. Scott Rudin (The Social Network, No Country for Old Men) is producing the film, which is set up at Sony.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is looking to release the film in 2014. Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin, Jay Baruchel and Edi Gathegi also star.
Murray has worked with Rudin several times, since Rudin has produced many of Wes Anderson’s films, including 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom. The legendary comedian will be seen in George Clooney’s The Monuments Men on Dec. 18.
