Kevin Costner is donating items for auction to benefit Lakota interpreter Phillip Red Bird Frame.
The donated items will be auctioned to help a Lakota interpreter at Costner's tourist site, The Associated Press reports.
The auction items are mostly memorabilia from the actor's films. Costner donated a Bill Durham baseball jacket along with his baseball and bat from his childhood.
The Field of Dreams actor filmed most of the Academy Award-winning Dances with Wolves in South Dakota and later opened up a tourist site near Deadwood about North American bison.
According to Rapid City Journal, Chief David Bald Eagle also donated a buckskin shirt he wore and signed to help Frame.
The 47-year-old Frame has said he plans to use any money to return to college for a sociology degree. "I want to finish what I started," he said. "I didn't know I liked being with people so much. This summer I've had the opportunity to visit with so many remarkable people and I want them to be inspired."
He believes he could finish the degree in less than a year and is humbled that the actor would donate items for an auction to help him.
