The annual iHeartRadio Music Festival kicked off in Las Vegas last night with performances from Queen with Adam Lambert and Robin Thicke. The two-day festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena can be called the Super Bowl of music, since today’s performers include Justin Timberlake and Paul McCartney.
Fans have been waiting for this year’s festival since July, when the amazing line-up was announced. In addition to Thicke, Lambert, Queen, McCartney and Timberlake, the performers include Katy Perry, Elton John, Phoenix, Muse, Ke$ha, Tim McGraw and Miguel.
Thicke, who performed with Miley Cyrus during the MTV VMA’s last week, performed Friday night, reports USA Today. Thicke was losing his shirt throughout the show, literally, as it became unbuttoned and fans close to the stage got a view of his belly. The zipper on his pants also began to give way, but he was all smiles with Ryan Seacrest, who is hosting the event.
There were other surprises sprinkled throughout the night, including Miguel coming out during J.Cole’s set and Juicy J showing up during Perry’s performance of “Dark Horse.” Queen and Lambert performed a 35-minute set that included an appearance by fun. on two songs.
Before Perry came on, the Norweigian comedy group behind “The Fox” showed up onstage to perform the odd song that’s gone viral.
Today will feature even more stars, with Timberlake and McCartney taking the stage. The LA Times notes that Timberlake has promised to perform songs from the second half of The 20/20 Experience, while McCartney will likely perform his “New” song. Bruno Mars will also be performing.
