As I Lay Dying's Timothy Lambesis set for trial on charge of hiring hitman to kill his wife

Timothy Lambesis of the Grammy-nominated band As I Lay Dying will go on trial for attempting to hire a hitman to get his estranged wife, Meggan Lambesis, killed.

Lambesis met with an undercover cop to arrange the deed, allegedly telling the officer who was posing as a hitman named Red, "just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead."

According to The AP, Lambesis gave Red $1,000, the security code for his wife’s condo, a description of her vehicle, Meggan’s photo and three possible dates to do it so that he would have an alibi.

The undercover officer also testified during a preliminary hearing that he and Lambesis agreed he would pay $20,000 to have his wife killed.

Lambesis has been out of jail on $2 million bail since May and has pleaded not guilty to solicitation for murder.

His trial date is set for Oct. 22 and if convicted, he will face up to 9 years behind bars. Timothy and Meggan have three adopted children together from Ethiopia and they were married for eight years.
