Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine gives update on Paris Jackson’s health: She’s doing ‘much better’

Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine Jackson gave her first interview since her granddaughter, Paris, was rushed to the hospital following a reported suicide attempt. The 83-year-old said that the King of Pop’s 14-year-old daughter is doing much better.

“She is in a good place, getting the help she needs,” Katherine told Hello! Magazine. “She is doing much better.”

Katherine also said that Paris is receiving treatment that is “going good, really good.”

She continued, “She's my baby. It's hard for me, really hard. All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night Michael died Paris was crying and said, 'I want to go and see daddy; I don't want to be without him.’”

Katherine’s praise of Paris’ treatment is in stark contrast of her uncle, Randy Jackson. Last week, Randy said that Paris has been hospitalized too long and that she is in a “psychiatric hospital.” He tweeted, “She is not psychotic. There is no reason for her to be in a psychiatric hospital this long away from her family.”

Paris was initially being treated at UCLA Medical Center, but was transferred to an undisclosed location in July. She attempted suicide on June 5.

Katherine also spoke about the ongoing lawsuit with AEG, which she claims was negligent by hiring Dr. Conrad Murray to care for her son Michael, who died in 2009. She is seeking a reported $40 billion in damages. “I take it one day at a time,” she told Hello.

“There's not a day goes by that I don't think about him; when I don't shed a tear. He was a very good father, the best,” Katherine said about Michael. “He was a good son, too.”
