If you’re going skinny dipping in Scandinavia, you better protect yourself between your legs, especially men. Swimmers are being warned of a fish that is well known for biting testicles.
According to The AFP, the warning was issued after a Danish fisherman found a pacu, a cousin of the South American piranha. The pacu is actually considered a kinder cousin of the piranha, since it’s a vegetarian and its teeth are not as sharp. However, Natural History Museum of Denmark experts warned that they often crush nuts and - well - testicles look just like them.
CNN reports that the museum suspects that “Amateur aquarium owners and fish farmers” are responsible for bringing the fish to the other side of the world. They plan to do more testing on other pacu that fishermen have discovered to find out more.
The fish were found in the Danish/Swedish strait of Oeresund
“If they bite, they can bite hard ... especially when they bite you where you really don't want to be bitten,” the museum’s Peter Resk Moeller told the AFP.
The museum’s experts say that “Anyone choosing to bathe in the Oresund these days had best keep their swimsuits well tied.”
